Last Saturday I was lucky enough to be a second photographer for an Indian wedding. For any photographers that want to do Indian weddings I really recommend being a second photographer the first time. A lot happens, it's totally chaotic at certain points and it would be really overwhelming to be in charge of it having never done it before. Also there is no way I would do it alone, this is a two photographer job a least. Suffice it to say, it was awesome. I had a really great time, the people were super nice and I was able to just be a floater, a fly on the wall. Here are some of the photos from the day. :)

So I had my photoshoot at Hermann Park yesterday. It really is Houston's version of Central Park in New York, only newer and without musicians, musicians really need to get thier butts over to Hermann Park on the weekends, the place is packed with people and it could use a little more urban starving artists. Anyways, I wanted to share an image from the engagement portraits I did for Son and Bridget, it was a fun day.

Today I took my new ride, a white Dawes rode bicycle to Hermann park to scout for a photoshoot. Okay to be honest, I drove but there was no parking for miles, the place was packed and so I went home and got the bike which was an awesome decision. Hermann park is this little mecca right in the museum district of Houston, I live two miles from it and I honestly don't know why I never took my bike there before, it was a lovely excursion, the park is huge but on a bike you can circumnavigate it in minutes, I recommend doing this, I'll be doing this again.

I had an engagement portrait shoot last Friday and it turned into what I like to call "Guerrilla Photography". The couple wanted some portraits done at the Water Wall, something elegant and traditional. So I met them there and that is what we did, in the moment the bride decided she wanted to do something silly, not so traditional and so I said.....well I have these masks in the car.

I'm still recovering from the whirlwind that was August. I haven't posted in awhile and I should have been posting because I have so much new work. I just wanted to post some of the portraits I did last month. I did some engagement portraits at The Grove resturant downtown that I really liked and I also did some bridal portraits at the Omni hotel that turned out just beautifully.

This project has taken over my whole life and my apartment I might add, almost done though, only 26 more to go. This month has been the busiest month I've had this year and I'm greatful, I'm not complaining but wow juggeling five clients at once has been a new challange for me, luckily some of my clients are the nicest people on the planet and I work hard for them and they know it so they don't sweat me about a deadline being a little extended. Anyways, better get back to work.

I did a wedding on Saturday at the Hotel Granduca and it was truly exquisite and the staff could not have been more accommodating. When the backdrop for a wedding is really nice than the photographer's job is made very easy, I mean no matter what you make it work but when the location is really nice than it's just such a walk in the park.

I did a portrait of my cat yesterday evening. My brother called me a cat lady because I dote on my cat Jean-Luc. That doesn't really seem fair, I mean just because I like my cat doesn't mean I'm going to start taking him to the park in a stroller. Anyways, I'm really into this whole idea of doing portraits of people's pets. Any takers?

It's been such a long time since I posted. I've been doing a lot of the same stuff; weddings, jewelry and schools. That's my week in week out. Recently I picked up a new client, an architect, and I'm going around shooting his designs. they are mostly commercial properties and residential. At first I wasn't super stimulated by the project but after doing the first property and looking at the pictures I can see that the building is actually really beautiful. I love the mosaics of stone and the tiny little square windows. It's such a clean design. So I can't wait to do the next one.

I photographed two weddings today....what a DAY! It feels like I just lived two or three days in a single day, strange feeling. So now I'm just looking through some of my favorites from the day and this one is at the top. Scott and Keely, congratulations! (Oh and for those who are wondering, that is a giant popcorn hanging from the ceiling)

Via Vandi Jewelry, a new client and the jewelry is baller, that's the only term I can think of to descibe it. You know, this straight product photography with the extracted background is harder than any portrait or photo journalism or any other type of photography. You might not believe it but in my opinion this type of photography requires more real techinical photography skills than any other. I should do a toutorial, I have tired every means possible to find short cuts to doing it but there are none, it's lighting and photoshop advanced level, it's pretty tedious really but I guess I'm happy as long as there is a photo involved.

I did some engagement portraits this morning. Such a cute couple and such beautiful texas landscape. You know what the cool thing about working with people who are about to get married is? They are happy, I enter thier lives when they are at thier best and get to share in it for a minute. Pretty cool.

I had to keep these pictures on the DL for awhile due to the bride eloping! Yes, it still happens from time to time, people don't tell thier friends and family and they sneak off and get married. I had the pleasure of attending the very small and privte ceremony and it was awesome, instead of "I do" the couple yelled "F*#K YEAH!" It was hysterical and heart warming and I LOVE the bridal protraits.
